The couple got married in 2005. Lane’s wife, Camilla, was his caddy at the U.S. Senior Open in 2015. Camilla Lane started caddying off and on for her Barry the following year after they got married.
Barry Lane died at the age of 62 on 31 December 2022 after a short illness. Barry Lane began playing golf at the age of 14, but by 1976, he was an assistant professional at the nearby Downshire Golf Club.
Between 1988 and 2004, he won five official European Tour events. In late 1995, he won the inaugural Andersen Consulting World Championship of Golf after competing in the 1993 Ryder Cup.
He had significant success on the European Senior Tour after turning 50, winning eight times between 2010 and 2019.
Barry Lane made 693 European Tour starts and ranks fourth all-time. He was a member of Bernard Gallacher’s Ryder Cup team in 1993, which was defeated 15-13 by the United States at the Belfry.
In 1988, he won the Scottish Open against a strong field that included Masters champion Sandy Lyle.
