Bob Berry (American football) Cause of Death
Bob Berry, a former Oregon Ducks and NFL quarterback died on Wednesday, April 19 2023, at the age of 81. Berry’s death was announced by Oregon athletics, but no cause was given.
Bob Berry was drafted in the 11th round of the 1964 NFL draught by the Philadelphia Eagles and in the 26th round of the 1964 AFL draught by the Denver Broncos, but he played his senior year at UO and signed with the Minnesota Vikings, who traded for his draft rights.
Berry played three seasons for the Vikings before being traded to the Atlanta Falcons in 1968. He started 51 games for the Falcons over five seasons, throwing for 8,489 yards and 57 touchdowns and being named to the Pro Bowl in 1969.
Bob Berry was traded back to the Vikings in 1973, where he spent four more seasons and appeared in three Super Bowls (VIII, IX, and XI).
Berry received the University of Oregon’s distinguished alumnus award in 1985. He was inducted into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame in 1987 and was a member of the University of Oregon Athletics Hall of Fame’s inaugural class in 1992.
