George Lois Wife: Who was Rosemary Lewandowski Lois?
Rosemary Lewandowski Lois was the wife of George Lois was an art director, designer, and author from the United States.
The couple met in Pratt Institute and eloped before they graduated. Rosemary Lois began her career as an advertising designer for Reba Sochis Advertising, progressing to Art Director for Fairchild Publications and Promotion Art Director for Mademoiselle magazine.
George returned from the Korean War in 1953 and established himself as a trailblazing art director.
The couple relocated to Greenwich Village, where they spent the next 71 years raising their two children, Harry Joe and Luke, collecting art, spending summers on Fire Island, and living every day to the fullest.
Rosemary passed away on September 20 2022 two months before her husband George Lois, died.
Lois’ son, photographer Luke Lois, said his father died “peacefully” Friday November 18, 2022, at the age of 91.at his Manhattan home.
George Lois was one of the advertisers who kicked off the “Creative Revolution” that shook Madison Avenue and the rest of the world in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
Lois was perhaps best known for designing over 92 covers for Esquire magazine between 1962 and 1973.
