Mike Bloomberg is an American businessman, politician, philanthropist, and author. He is the son of William Henry Bloomberg and Charlotte Rubens Bloomberg.

Max Rubens, his maternal grandpa, was a Lithuanian Jewish immigrant from what is now Belarus, and his maternal grandmother was born in New York to Lithuanian Jewish parents.

The family moved to Allston, Massachusetts, when he was two years old, then to Brookline, Massachusetts, for two years before settling in the Boston suburb of Medford, Massachusetts, where he stayed until he graduated from college.

Mike Bloomberg attended Johns Hopkins University, where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. He earned a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering in 1964.

He received his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Harvard Business School in 1966. He is the co-founder, controlling owner, and CEO of Bloomberg L.P.
