Eugene Melynk was a well-known businessman in Canada, best known as the chairperson of NHL’s Ottawa Senators. He was a chief executive officer (CEO) of a pharmaceurical company called Bioval Corporation.
Melynk was a former founder of Trimel Corporation, the medical publishing company that was later sold to Thomson Publication. Moreover, he was Chairman of a medical device company, Neurolign Technologies Inc. founded in 2019.
Eugene Melynk who was one of the richest Barbados residents was named in Canada’s 100 wealthiest people list with a ranking of 79th with a net worth of $1.21 billion, based on the data of 2017.

Eugene Melnyk’s bad health condition was the main cause of his death. Reportedly, he underent comprehensive medical treatment in 2015.
Later, it was uncovered that Eugene Melynk urgently needed a liver transplant. Afterward, his family with the hope of identifying someone who might donate a “live liver donor” reached out to his broader family and close ones.
Eugene Melnyk celebrated his five-year anniversary of liver transplant in 2020. However, the actual health issues that cause his death hasn’t been revealed by his family thus far now.

The CEO of Neurolign Techologies Inc., Eugene Melynk passed away at age 62, after suffering from a fatal illness that he faced “with determination and courage,” the Senators stated.
Ottawa Senators confirmed the news through their official Twitter handle early this morning, tweeted “It is with great sorrow that the family of Eugene Melynk and the Ottawa Senators hockey organization declared his passing on 28th March 2022 after an illness he faced with courage and determination.”
Since the news across publicly, his fans and celebrities are now paying their tribute to great businessman Eugene Melnyk on social media.

In the official notice released by Ottawa Senators, it hasn’t mentioned the exact cause of his death. However, he died on Monday after suffering from a fatal illness that is yet to be disclosed by his family.
In 2003, Melynky bought the Senators along with the team’s home arena in Kanata out of bankruptcy. Under his ownership, the team competed in the Stanely Cup finals in 2007 as well as at the 2017 Eastern Conference finals.
Eugene’s family and his team haven’t specifically mentioned the illness that he was battling in the recently published notice. As of now, everyone is pouring condolences for his extended family, two daughters, and the Senators’ organizations.
Captian Brady Tkachuk of the Senators expressed his sorrow on Twitter as he tweeted, “Mr. Melnyk provided me, my squads, and many Sens athletes who came before us with an opportunity to live out our dream. He will be missed greatly by the Ottawa Community.”
