In an interview with Finnish media in 2020, Peiponen spoke openly about his struggle with depression during his performance in Norway. At the end of June 2020, he canceled his contract with HJK and ended his professional career, at only 23 years old.

All this was preceded by an injury. Peiponen had to get back in shape before moving to Norwegian Molde, which caused him a lot of stress.
