Richardson, a Dallas native, took up jogging at a young age. She was a standout athlete at Carter High School before going to Louisiana State University.

In her first year at LSU, she set a collegiate record by winning the 2019 NCAA title in 10.75 seconds.

During her first season, Sha’Carri received a number of honors, including SEC Freshman, Track Athlete of the Year, and the 2019 Bowerman trophy, the greatest honor in collegiate track and field.

Sha’Carri Richardson announced on social media in June 2019 that she would be leaving LSU to pursue her long-time passion of becoming an athlete after the fantastic season.

Richardson, who is currently the seventh-fastest female of all time, achieved a new personal record in April 2021 with a timing of 10.72 seconds.

She rose to the position of fourth-fastest American woman in history as a result. Sha’Carri finished first in the 100-meter women’s sprint at the US Olympic Trials in 10.86 seconds, earning a place in the 2020 Summer Olympics.
