The 28-year-old tennis player was born on March 26, 1994, in Vilvoorde, Belgium. Her parents and two siblings raised her; an elder brother Sean and a twin brother Brett.

Alison was introduced to tennis by her elder brother Sean at age five. She graduated from Sint-Donatus High School in Merchtem. She played tennis during high school and college, alternating between training with the Flemish Tennis Association and her local coach Sacha Katsnelson.
