This Is Why Geri Halliwell Left Spice Girls
When talking about popular girl bands globally, Spice Girls is bound to make the list. The Spice Girls is an English girl group formed in 1994. The group is made up of Melanie Brown a.k.a. Mel B (Scary Spice), Melanie Chisholm, or Mel C (Sporty Spice), Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice), and Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice). Their music is targeted towards young females rather than a male audience.
Two years after Spice Girls’ burst on the music scene and have received global domination, in 1998, Geri Halliwell shocked the world when she released a statement that she is quitting the group. This is the message she left to her fans: “This is a message to the fans. Sadly, I would like to confirm that I have left the Spice Girls. This is because of differences between us, I am sure the group will continue to be successful and I wish them all the best. I have no immediate plans. I wish to apologize to all of the fans and to thank them and everyone who has been there”.
Nine years later after leaving the group, the 44-year-old opened up about why she left in the 2007 documentary, “Giving You Everything”. She explained that she felt she had given all she felt she could and did not feel like she belonged anymore. So she felt redundant and just threw in the towel.
