What Happened To Alex Rodda? Murder Documentary And Update On His Killer Matthew Mason

The whole of England was shocked to the core to know the news of Alex Rodda’s horrific death.

Rodda was a young teenager of 15 years old in December 2019, the last time everyone saw him alive. He was an openly gay teenager in high school.

Sadly, his openness regarding his sexuality became the reason behind his death that year. Since then, huge national and international coverage followed regarding his death investigation and the trials of his killer.

Where Is Alex Rodda Killer Matthew Mason Now?

Alex Rodda was murdered by Mattew Mason, a fellow teenager who maintained physical relationships with him.

For the horrendous nature of the young man’s murder, Mason was initially sentenced to a life sentence with a minimum of 28 years of jail service in early 2021.

However, it was later reduced to 26 years after appealing to the court regarding his young age. Mason was 18 at the time of his crime.

Hence, now, 21-year-old Mason is still in prison, serving his life sentence. The young farmer is now a convicted murderer whose current whereabouts remain away from public knowledge.

The Rodda family, especially Alex’s father, Adam Rodda Sr., had openly shared his unease about Mason’s sentence reduction by the Mold Crown Court last year, per Cheshire UK.

Alex Rodda Parents And Family Are Upset With Sentence Reduction Of Mason

The late Alex’s parents and the whole family had attended the lengthy and stressing trials of their son’s murder case.

Adam Rodda Sr., his current partner Maxine Pritchard, Alex’s mother Lisa, and elder brother Adam Jr. were all active in the court, appealing to the court for Mason’s strict sentencing.

Manchester Evening News reported on each progress of the murder case till its last hearing.

Clearly, the Rodda family is unhappy with Mason’s sentence reduction and has questioned the court’s decision many times.

The Rodda family is native to Pickmere, Knutsford, and are open to the media speaking about the late Alex.

Meanwhile, the affluent Mason family has stayed away from interacting with the media regarding the murder by their son.

ITV Documentary Aired Alex Rodda Murder Story In 2021

In November 2021, ITV released a documentary presenting the murder case of Alex Rodda.

The young lad went to the Holmes Chapel High School and was a popular guy among his peers. Mason, then 18, was a college-going student when he and Alex met online.

Within a short time, they had struck up a secret relationship. On the murder day, Mason had picked up Alex from outside his house and drove him to a secluded woodland area outside Ashley, near Altrincham.

There, he bludgeoned Alex to death by hitting him with a wrench about 15 times. Their disagreement started when Mason became clear that Alex would not keep their relationship a secret.

Hailing from a rich farmer family, he had paid Alex more than £2,000 over a three-week period to stop him from revealing the secret.

While Alex was open about his sexuality, Matthew wanted to keep the acknowledgment at bay. He had a girlfriend at that time and wanted to keep his sexuality between him and Alex.

Although Mason urged that he kill Aaron in self-defense, the prosecutors caught his lie and sentenced him.
