What happened with Kelly Lynch?

At age 20, American actress, Kelly Lynch got severely injured when she was hit head-on on a Minnesota freeway. She shattered her femur and thigh bones. It was reported that the doctors wanted to amputate her legs in the process, saying that she would “get gangrene and die otherwise.

“I can’t tell you how horrible it was,” she shared in an interview in 2019 recalling the incident.

“I was an athlete, I was a state champion swimmer, I was a dancer. I always thought, ‘My intelligence is in my body,’ so if that was going to be taken away from me, I didn’t know what I was going to do,” she said.

Luckily for her, her mother prevented the doctors from amputating her legs and went in search of other sources of help to save her.

After a long search, they found an incredibly talented surgeon “who put small incisions in both of my hips and all this mechanical stuff down my legs, and slowly I started to walk again.”

She also added that even as old as she is now, she still feels pains in her legs sometimes.
