Yunis Issac Mejia was a former police dispatcher. He worked as a 911 operator for the Bonham, Texas Police Department for several years.
Mike Bankston, the chief of police in Bonham, described him as a decent man with a great smile. He got along with others nicely and never complained.
He had a pilot’s license as well. He dreamed himself working for a commercial airline one day. But his dream ended when an informant, referred to by the FBI as a “Confidential Human Source” or CHS, arrived at his house, as per Ammoland.
He had unintentionally invited an FBI agent to shoot steel plates on his five-acre property near St. Cloud, Florida. They had been chatting for several months and had become friends.
Moreover, the informant, or CHS, was not compensated. Instead, they were working with the FBI to prevent being charged with a crime by ICE. Before becoming a CHS, the CHS was jailed for a short period after being apprehended by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in or around June 2020 on suspicion of being a nonimmigrant student out of status who failed to attend.
To relieve themselves from the charges, they approached Yunis and gave the FBI information about him and how he had modified the weapon and had not registered it.
