Wáng was born on February 10, 1987, in Beijing, and began to familiarise herself with the piano at the age of six.
Wang was raised in a family that loved arts and music. Her mother, Zhai Jieming, is a dancer and her father, Wang Jianguo, is a percussionist.
At the age of 7, she was enrolled at Beijing’s Central Conservatory of Music, and got the opportunity to play at the Morningside Music Bridge International Music Festival.
At age 15, Wang was a student of the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia.
At age 21, she had gained international recognition as a pianist. She secured a recording contract with Deutsche Grammophon.
